moving into southern maryland, south of d. c., getting wet weather. this is the leading edge of a storm system that is developing to the south and west. wider on the radar you can see a bit of additional rain beginning to move in our direction and even this just the leading edge. first, i'll give you current conditions. the humidity is creeping upward. we could pick up a couple inches of rain, some downpours. there will be gusty thunderstorms in the mix at some point tomorrow. sun set was at 7:11, the days getting shorter. fall beginning this saturday. ocean city, take a look. wrapping up the summer season here. the big biker weekend down there. on a cloudy note today. we did stay try at the beach. sun changed over to an overcast scenario. the clouds thickened up. that was another indication of the weather system out of the west. an early look at the overnight forecast. you can see showers towards the morning commute. a good possibility. rain heavier by midday. a chance for thunderstorms after the midday into the afternoon and evening. that will be the peak possibility of even some seve

southern maryland. there's still a slight chance of some, maybe some small tornadoes. i think the main threat here, we talked about this earlier this afternoon, straight line winds. we are talk about winds 60 miles per hour. that was pretty much the deal. we still have flood warnings. these are flood warnings in montgomery county until 5:45. flood warnings in frederick and leesburg and loudoun county and clark county and frederick county, virginia, that means the rivers are over their banks. it's more a river thing than across the street. still do not cross the street by foot or car. we'll zoom in and this is the heaviest activity down into southern maryland. still good rain, st. leanard and lusby. see the red? they are across into the water. we are in good shape. this is the line that had the severe winds with it. now that is east of the immediate metro area. that said, we have some left over showers. we aren't going to clear out right away. the threat of severe weather is 95% of us. we'll back out and put this into motion. there's going to be showers and still some yellows. moderate

see, some thunderstorms are tracking into southern maryland. once again, southeast of baltimore, the main threat through the evening hour. it was hot today. the almanac will show you a high temperature of 91 degrees. the normal would only be about 28. 82 is the normal high today. we were nine degrees warmer than normal. 77 degrees this morning. that ties the record for the warmest low temperature. the normal is 62. 15 degrees below normal end you set a record. so far, it ties the record for the warmest low. still warm for most areas tonight. 80's around the region. slightly cooler in the mountains where temperatures in the 70's. mid-60's in the suburbs. the risk of a thunderstorm for a summit hours and then some fog is forming. this week, a boundary is triggering the storm as the air comes out of the gulf. another front is near chicago. these will not cool things off the next couple of days. there is a stronger surge of cool air in canada. next week it will feel more fall-like but in the meantime we will deal with more conditions and thunderstorms. watch this system trying to de

to the district of columbia and southern maryland. here on tv hill, we got gusts up to 29 miles an hour. b.m.w., gusts were up to 35. this evening, the rain is mostly east of us. we have a couple of sprinkles in our area. clouds are beginning to break up in western maryland. and at the moment, the strongest storms are in eastern north carolina and this cool front went through a while back. almost all of this rain activity that you see on radar right now is behind the cool front, which has gotten out over the ocean now. here's a radar depiction and estimate of how much rain fell in the area and the areas that you see in green are areas that got around or up to half an inch of rain. blue shade is less than a tenth of an inch of rain. seems like we should have gotten more, the storms moved through so quickly, 30 to 40 miles an hour forward movement and didn't have the chance to drop the amount of rain you thought they would have given the tropical moisture. the cold front has moved through and the clouds are going to disappear. more on the weather for the rest of the weekend and next week com
